In celebration and recognition that the Greater Dandenong Interfaith Network office had been open for a year, a “Blessing of the Interfaith Office” was held on Wednesday 7 September 2016.
A representative of each of the faiths and spiritual organisations in the Interfaith Network offered a blessing and lit a candle. Rev Fr Robert Stickland, the Interfaith Network President, welcomed everyone and Cr Jim Memeti, representing the Mayor, brought a greeting.
Other neighbours from community groups sharing the building at 39 Clow Street Dandenong were also invited.
The “Blessing of the Interfaith Office” was a very special, sacred occasion and one for ritually celebrating as the Interfaith Network has never had its own space.
The vision and special commitment of the City of Greater Dandenong Council in supporting the Interfaith Network in such a valuable and tangible manner was also acknowledged.
The hope of the Interfaith Network is that the interfaith office will be a warm and welcoming place where people of all faiths – and none – can meet, get to know each other and work together for peace harmony and understanding for all in the City of Greater Dandenong.
After this ceremony, the September Monthly Meeting of the Interfaith Network was held where everyone was welcomed to join that meeting if they wished.
